🧮 OpenAI’s math breakthrough backfires

PLUS: How to create professional website designs fast with ready-made prompts

Good morning, AI enthusiast. OpenAI is facing backlash after its researchers falsely claimed GPT-5 solved unsolved math problems, and the AI world isn’t letting it slide.

AI NEWS

OpenAI researchers claimed GPT-5 had solved 10 unsolved Erdős math problems, but mathematicians quickly debunked the announcement, forcing OpenAI to delete the posts after public criticism.

  • Meta’s Yann LeCun called the situation “embarrassing,” echoed by DeepMind’s Demis Hassabis

  • Mathematician Thomas Bloom said GPT-5 only found existing solutions already in research papers

  • OpenAI’s Sebastien Bubeck admitted GPT-5 didn’t solve new problems, just located known ones

The controversy highlights how AI hype can quickly outpace reality. While GPT-5’s ability to discover academic references is notable, claiming mathematical breakthroughs it didn’t make undermines OpenAI’s credibility, especially when rivals like DeepMind are watching closely.

CYBERSECURITY

🕵️‍♂️ China Accuses NSA of Hacking Its National Time System

China’s Ministry of State Security claims the U.S. National Security Agency carried out a long-term cyberattack on its National Time Service Center, the institute that maintains China’s national time standard.

  • Beijing says the NSA stole data and credentials dating back to 2022

  • Alleged hacks targeted staff phones, internal networks, and high-precision timing systems

  • China warns the breaches could disrupt communications, finance, power grids, and even global time synchronization

  • The U.S. Embassy denied the allegations, calling China the “most persistent cyber threat” to U.S. infrastructure

The clash adds a new front to the U.S.–China cyber conflict, this time over the digital backbone that keeps global systems synchronized, highlighting how cyberwarfare now extends to critical national infrastructure.

BIG TECH

Alibaba Cloud has unveiled Aegaeon, a computing pooling system that drastically reduces the GPUs needed to serve AI models, boosting efficiency for large-scale AI workloads.

  • Beta tests cut Nvidia H20 GPU usage from 1,192 to 213 for dozens of models up to 72B parameters

  • Aegaeon pools GPU resources, serving multiple models with the same hardware

  • Reduces inefficiencies: previously, 17.7% of GPUs handled only 1.35% of requests

  • Designed for concurrent AI workloads in cloud marketplaces, including Alibaba’s Qwen and DeepSeek models

Aegaeon demonstrates how smarter GPU utilization can drastically lower costs and energy usage for AI cloud providers. This could reshape how massive AI workloads are deployed globally, setting a new standard for efficiency in AI infrastructure.

HOW TO AI

🎨 How to Create Professional Website Designs Fast with Ready-Made Prompts

21st.dev is a free AI UI library packed with beautifully designed, animated components. Instead of writing code, you can simply copy prompts from 21st.dev and use them inside tools like Lovable, Cursor, or v0.dev to generate complete web sections instantly.

🧰 Who is This For

  • Developers who want to build fast with AI tools like Cursor or Lovable

  • Designers looking to create web-ready UI visually

  • Founders building MVPs or landing pages without hiring a dev team

  • Anyone who wants ready-to-use UI prompts that generate real code

STEP 1: Access 21st.dev

Head to 21st.dev, you’ll land on a minimal black interface with a search box saying “What would you like to craft with AI today?”.

On the left sidebar, you’ll find dozens of categories like Cards, Buttons, Avatars, Dropdowns, and Calendars.
Each one contains pre-built animated UI components you can preview live.

STEP 2: Search or Browse Components

Use the search bar at the top or click through categories on the left.
For example, if you want to design a profile card, search “Card”, you’ll see multiple sleek options.

Click on one you like, for this tutorial, let’s pick “Display Cards” under the Cards category.
This opens a preview page showing the live animation and layout.

STEP 3: Copy Prompt or Code

Once you click on Display Cards, it opens a preview page where you can interact with the live component.
On the right-hand side, you’ll see the Code section with the exact setup you can use, including the import statements and JSX.
At the top right corner, there are two key buttons:

  • Copy Code to instantly copy the entire working component.

  • Copy Prompt if you want to reuse the same design style by prompting the AI.

For this tutorial, let’s choose Copy Prompt

Now, open Lovable, Cursor, or v0.dev, and paste the prompt inside your AI workspace.

You can tweak parameters like style, framework (Next.js / React), resolution, or tone, but even the raw prompt usually gives stunning results right away.

STEP 4: Customize and Build

Once your AI tool generates the component, you can adjust layout, animations, or add backend logic directly inside your code editor.

For example, you can tell the AI to:

  • “Make it responsive for mobile”

  • “Add a hover animation”

  • “Change theme to dark mode”

Within minutes, you’ll have a unique, production-ready design built off 21st.dev’s aesthetic, but fully customized to your project.
